Camp Avoda Climbing Tower

Climbing towers are becoming one of the more popular additions to adventure programs, and they provide the participants with different opportunities for climbing experiences. They have many different uses - from team challenge, to individual challenge, building climbing skills, or recreation.

The tower at Camp Avoda has two climbing sides that allows several climbing teams at the same time. The Climbing tower mirrors the rock climbing experience. Simulated rock footholds make climbing fun, providing the chance for singles, pairs, or teams of three to ascend in safe, controlled conditions. At the top of the 50-foot climbing tower, there is a large platform where campers can rest after their climb. They can look out over the entire camp and, in particular, they have a spectacular view of beautiful Lake Tispaquin.

On the wall, climbers can expect to feel exhilaration of success personally and as team members. The tower is geared for all abilities. Strength and size are not as important as balance and a willingness to try. The tower can accommodate six to eight climbers at a time, each with a safety partner and the supervision of qualified Camp Avoda staff. All climbers wear a camp supplied climbing helmet and, depending on age, they are on a safety belay to one or more partners. Supervisory staff undergo an extensive two-day training course prior to the start of the camp season. As with all the camp’s activities, we fully satisfy the requirements of the American Camp Association.
